DMS and ADAS: what each camera watches
A DMS (driver monitoring system) is the camera that watches the driver and detects fatigue, drowsiness, distraction and phone use. ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems) is the camera that watches the road and warns of forward collision, lane departure and pedestrians. Avant 3, 5 and 8: 3 to 8 cameras
The Avant line of Endeavant smart cameras has three units, and each one's number is how many cameras it takes. Every camera in the same event
The recorder takes every camera and keeps them in sync: when an alert comes in, the evidence brings what each one saw at that moment, and one MP4 per camera downloads. Each one covers a different point of the vehicle.

From the event in the cab to the report
The Endeavant smart camera processes on board: it detects the event and alerts in the cab without querying a server, so the alert does not depend on signal. Every event uploads to Endeavant Cloud with its video and the 24/7 Control Center validates it.

Seven behaviors the DMS detects
The DMS on Endeavant cameras tracks the driver's face frame by frame and measures how long each gesture lasts before classifying the event. Here is how AI fatigue detection works; what happens when the driver falls asleep is in anti-fatigue camera.

How the DMS sees the driver
The DMS camera sits low on the dashboard, facing the driver, and tracks eyes, mouth and head position frame by frame; the mesh in these videos shows those points. At night it sees with infrared light and carries a photobiological certificate, so the light does not harm the eyes. Every event uploads with the video, plate, speed and time.
Fatigue and drowsiness
The eyes stay shut longer than a blink and the head drops forward: the in-cab alert goes off.
Nodding off at night
With infrared light, the DMS follows the head drop even in a dark cab.
Yawning
Mouth opening and frequency: the first sign of tiredness, before the eyes close.
Phone use
Phone in hand or at the ear while moving: voice alert and an event with video.
Distraction
Eyes off the road for longer than the set time: voice alert in the cab.
Smoking
A cigarette in the cab, logged as an event with its video.

ADAS · the road
ADAS anti-collision and blind spots
The ADAS camera sits on the windshield, watches the road and warns the driver before a forward collision, a lane departure or when following the vehicle ahead too closely; it also recognizes pedestrians and speed signs. Risk of impact with the vehicle ahead and not enough distance to stop in time.
LDW · lane departure
Unsignaled line crossing, a common sign of drowsiness.
Pedestrians
Detection of people in the frontal risk zone, in towns and access roads.
Speed signs
Reads the stretch's sign to compare it with the vehicle's speed.
BSD · blind spots
Warns when a person or vehicle comes alongside the truck (Avant 5 and 8).
Reverse and tray
Behind the vehicle and over the load: reversing and tray status (Avant 5 and 8).

In-cab alert during the event
The Endeavant camera alert combines a voice warning, seat vibration and, on Avant 5 and 8, an alert light, so the driver corrects right then instead of in a report the next day. Thresholds, sensitivity and voice prompts are set per fleet.

Rugged unit against vibration, dust and tampering
Avant units live inside the vehicle, so vibration, dust and tampering are solved in hardware: an anti-tamper case, a bolted metal housing and, on the Avant 8, MIL-STD-810H certification.
