Anti-collision system for trucks and buses

The Endeavant anti-collision system is an ADAS camera on the windshield that watches the road and warns the driver of forward collision risk, lane departure, short distance to the vehicle ahead and pedestrians. It alerts in the cab and our 24/7 Control Center validates every event with its video.

What it detects

ADAS alerts: what each one does

An ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems) is a set of alerts that read the road with camera and radar. On Endeavant smart cameras the front camera recognizes vehicles, pedestrians and lane lines, estimates distance and relative speed and warns when the risk crosses the configured threshold. More in ADAS for commercial fleets.

FCW · forward collision

Works out the time to impact with the vehicle ahead and warns with time to brake.

LDW · lane departure

Warns when the vehicle crosses the line without signaling, a common sign of drowsiness.

HMW · headway

Warns when the gap to the vehicle ahead is not enough to stop in time.

Pedestrians

Detects people in the frontal risk zone and warns of a possible hit.

BSD · blind spots

On Avant 5 and 8, radar and side cameras warn when someone enters the blind spot.

Harsh driving

Harsh acceleration, cornering and braking via accelerometer.

The camera

ADAS camera on the windshield

The ADAS camera sits on the windshield, records in Full HD 1080p and processes on board without relying on the internet, so the forward collision alert sounds the same with or without signal. It is optional on the Avant 3 and included on the Avant 5 and Avant 8.

  • 27% fewer rear-end crashesWhat the IIHS measured with forward collision warning without automatic braking (Cicchino, 2017).
  • Added to the vehicleIt has its own artificial intelligence, speaker and vibrator: no factory assistance systems needed.
  • Thresholds per fleetSensitivity and voice prompts set for your operation.

How it works

From the in-cab alert to validation

The anti-collision system does not end at the beep: every forward collision, lane departure or short headway alert uploads to Endeavant Cloud with video of the road and the driver, and Endeavant's 24/7 Control Center validates it.

  1. The camera detectsCollision risk, lane departure, short headway or pedestrian, with on-board artificial intelligence.
  2. In-cab alertVoice warning and seat vibration; on Avant 5 and 8, an alert light too.
  3. Video to Endeavant CloudThe event uploads over 4G with 15 s of video before and 15 s after, plate, speed and time.
  4. 24/7 validationThe Control Center confirms the event, talks to the cab and notifies your supervisor on WhatsApp.

ADAS and DMS

The road and the driver on the same alert

ADAS watches the road and the DMS watches the driver. With both cameras on the same unit, a lane departure at the same time as closed eyes reads as drowsiness, not as a maneuver. The driver side is covered in anti-fatigue camera.

  • Video from every camera15 s before and after, one MP4 per camera, 12 months.

Vehicles

Which vehicles it fits

The anti-collision system is installed in freight trucks, buses, mining fleets and light vehicles, including units with no factory assistance systems. An Endeavant technician mounts it in 2 to 3 hours per vehicle, and each vehicle can carry 1 to 8 cameras depending on what you want to cover.

Freight trucks

Tractor units, dump trucks and delivery trucks, on the road and the highway.

Buses

Passenger and staff transport, urban and intercity.

Mining fleets

Heavy mine transport, with MIL-STD-810H certification on the Avant 8.

Light vehicles

Pickups and supervision vehicles.

FAQ

Anti-collision system FAQ

What is an anti-collision system?
An anti-collision system watches the road and warns the driver before a crash. Fleets use an ADAS camera on the windshield that detects the vehicle ahead, lane lines and pedestrians and alerts in the cab with voice and vibration. On Endeavant smart cameras every alert uploads with its video and the 24/7 Control Center validates it.
What does the ADAS system detect?
The ADAS on Endeavant cameras detects forward collision risk (FCW), unsignaled lane departure (LDW), short headway (HMW) and pedestrians in the frontal zone. Avant 5 and 8 add BSD radar and side cameras for blind spots, and the accelerometer logs harsh acceleration, cornering and braking.
What is forward collision warning (FCW)?
Forward collision warning (FCW) detects the vehicle ahead, estimates the time to impact from the relative speed and warns the driver when that time drops below the configured threshold, with room to brake. The IIHS measured that this warning, without automatic braking, cut rear-end crashes by 27% (Cicchino, 2017).
What are the most common ADAS systems?
In commercial fleets the most common are forward collision warning (FCW), lane departure warning (LDW), headway monitoring warning (HMW), pedestrian detection and blind-spot detection (BSD). New vehicles may also come with factory automatic emergency braking; a fleet ADAS like Endeavant's is a warning system: it alerts and the driver brakes.
Does it work on older trucks?
Yes. The ADAS camera is added to the vehicle: it sits on the windshield, processes with its own artificial intelligence and alerts with its own speaker and seat vibrator, so the truck does not need factory assistance systems. An Endeavant technician installs it in 2 to 3 hours per vehicle.
